Puppy Love: 3 Ways to Show Your Dog Affection

Dogs bring so much joy into our lives. Whether on Valentines Day, birthdays or just because, our four-legged companions need some love! From exercise and nutrition to snuggles and massages, here are a few ways to show your dog affection and appreciation.

"And they called it puppy love." — Paul Anka, Puppy Love

Go For a Nature Walk
What better way to share some quality bonding time with your dog than with a long walk. Whether you head around the neighborhood or bring them on a hike in the woods, taking a walk is a fun way to get some exercise and show your dog affection at the same time.

Treat Your Dog
If you’ve ever seen a ravenous pup devour their food, you know that dogs love to eat. Show your pup some love this year by making him/her some delicious homemade treats. Healthy treats are not only a way to incentivize behavior with training, but can improve your dog’s longevity, too. Stick to natural foods without additives so you know exactly what your dog is consuming.

No time to bake? No worries. Try this Mini Heart Puppy Love Cake recipe below and you’ll be sure to get his tail wagging!

Have a Doggy Date
Go ahead and stay in with your dog. Snuggle up on the couch and watch a good movie - if it happens to be a movie about a dog, even better! Give your pup some extra attention with a dog massage. Yes, you read that right. Massages are just as beneficial for dogs as they are for humans to improve circulation, reduce stress, decrease pain and improve the bond between you and your dog.
